US President Donald Trump earned more than $1 billion in 2025 through cryptocurrency ventures and other business activities, according to his latest mandatory financial disclosure, highlighting the growing role of digital assets in his financial empire.
The 927-page filing revealed that Trump received approximately $635 million in royalties from his Trump-themed meme coin, despite the cryptocurrency losing significant value since its launch just days before he returned to office.
The disclosure also showed that the president earned more than $500 million from World Liberty Financial, a cryptocurrency company established by his sons alongside the children of his special envoy, Steve Witkoff.
The latest filing represents a dramatic increase from Trump’s previous financial report for 2024, when he disclosed earnings exceeding $600 million.
Despite the substantial income from crypto-related businesses, the White House dismissed allegations that Trump was benefiting financially from his position as president. Officials reiterated that his business interests are held in a trust managed by his sons.
White House deputy press secretary Anna Kelly said the president had helped transform the United States into the “crypto capital of the world” and denied any suggestion of conflicts of interest.
She stated that neither Trump nor his family had engaged in, or would engage in, conflicts of interest and insisted that all administration actions were taken in the best interests of the American people.
Trump has also repeatedly argued that he is not bound by federal conflict-of-interest laws that apply to many other government officials.
The president’s current embrace of cryptocurrency marks a major shift from his earlier position. In 2021, he described Bitcoin as a “scam” and called cryptocurrencies a “disaster waiting to happen.” However, during his presidential campaign several years later, he pledged to make the United States the “crypto capital of the planet.”
Upon returning to office, one of his early actions was signing an executive order aimed at supporting the responsible growth of the cryptocurrency industry.
Richard Painter, who served as chief ethics lawyer in the White House under President George W. Bush, described Trump’s earnings from crypto as extraordinary and argued that the situation represented a clear conflict of interest.
Financial experts have also noted the contrast between Trump’s approach and that of previous presidents. Will Walker-Arnott of Raymond James Financial Group pointed out that former presidents often distanced themselves from business interests while in office, citing examples such as Jimmy Carter placing his peanut farm into a blind trust and George W. Bush selling his ownership stake in the Texas Rangers.
The filing showed that while cryptocurrency generated the bulk of Trump’s income, his real estate holdings remained highly profitable. He earned approximately $77 million from his Mar-a-Lago resort and around $122 million from his Doral golf club in Florida.
His other golf properties also generated substantial revenue, including more than $30 million each from clubs in Bedminster, New Jersey, Jupiter, Florida, and Turnberry in Scotland.
Trump’s financial disclosure also detailed millions of dollars earned through branded products, including watches, Bibles, trainers, fragrances and guitars. Royalties from Trump-branded watches alone amounted to about $4.7 million.
First Lady Melania Trump also reported significant earnings. According to the filing, she received $10.7 million from a licensing agreement related to a documentary released last year and an additional $6 million from the sale of non-fungible tokens, commonly known as NFTs.
The president further disclosed approximately $86.5 million in income from legal settlements. These included payments from lawsuits involving ABC, CBS, Meta, YouTube and X. The White House said much of this money would be directed toward Trump’s future presidential library and a nonprofit organization dedicated to maintaining park sites in Washington, DC.
According to Forbes, Trump’s estimated net worth has risen to about $6 billion, up from $2.3 billion a year earlier, while Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index values his fortune at approximately $7.6 billion.
The disclosure underscores how Trump’s financial portfolio has increasingly shifted toward digital assets and highlights the growing intersection between politics, business and the rapidly expanding cryptocurrency industry in the United States.
